After victory in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Ajit Pawar on Thursday announced that his party will contest the Delhi Assembly elections, so that the NCP can be reinstated as a national party. Addressing a felicitation ceremony organized at the NCP office in the national capital, Ajit Pawar rejected the opposition’s allegations of EVM rigging in the Maharashtra elections. He said that the Grand Alliance is united and will soon form a government.
‘MVA blames EVM after not winning the elections’
Pawar said the Mahayuti leaders met for the first time on Thursday night after the election results were announced. He said: “We are united… there are no differences.” Pawar said the opposition Mahavikas Aghadi alliance was blaming the EVM machines after failing to win the elections. Pawar said: “There is no truth in their allegations. They blame the EVMs for not getting favorable results in the assembly elections.
The Congress and Sharadchandra Pawar’s NCP party (SP) have raised doubts over the use of EVMs in assembly elections and have demanded that the ancient tradition of using ballot papers be brought back.
Last year the PCN lost its national party status.
When asked about the NCP’s future plans, he said that the NCP had earlier obtained national party status but will now work to regain it. “We need to do more now,” Pawar said. “We will fight and achieve success.” The NCP had lost the status of a national party in April last year. Ajit Pawar said, “Our next target is the Delhi Assembly elections. “We will soon hold the national convention of the PCN in the national capital.” Pawar said he had come to the national capital to discuss the power-sharing agreement in Maharashtra.
What was said about the next CM of Maharashtra?
In the recent assembly elections held in Maharashtra, the ruling Mahayuti alliance won an overwhelming majority. Regarding the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Pawar said he and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis, outgoing Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and central BJP leaders will hold a meeting in which a decision on the matter will be taken. Pawar said the ruling alliance had decided not to field any face for the post of chief minister in the assembly elections.
