The ICC meeting will be held on November 29 regarding the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. All board members, including the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), will be present at this meeting. In fact, Pakistan hosts the Champions Trophy, but the Indian team has refused to tour the neighboring country. Since then there has been a dispute over when and where the tournament will be played. So ICC has organized these meetings. The final decision on the Champions Trophy will not be made until after this meeting.
Will the 2025 Champions Trophy be played without India?
Three options will be considered at the ICC meeting, it is believed that one of these options will be considered for the Champions Trophy. The first option is for the tournament to be held in a hybrid model. Except team India, all matches will be played only in Pakistan. The second option is for the tournament to be played entirely outside Pakistan and for the hosting rights to remain with PCB. At the same time, the last option is that this entire tournament will be played in Pakistan, but India will not be a part of it. According to Pakistani media reports, the Pakistan Cricket Board is considering the third option. That means he is ready to conduct this tournament without India.
PCB not ready for hybrid model
According to a PTI report, the Pakistan Cricket Board has informed the ICC that it will not accept the hybrid model for the Champions Trophy. PCB also asked not to discuss the option at the board meeting. A source told PTI: “I can confirm that the PCB told the ICC a few hours ago that the hybrid model of the tournament is not acceptable.” The PCB is opposed to the hybrid model and has advised the ICC to look for some other option to organize the Champions Trophy.
Another source confirmed that the PCB also reminded the ICC to inform it if the BCCI had submitted a written letter from its government stating that the Indian team had not received clearance to play in Pakistan. The source said: “Under ICC rules, if a team says that its government does not allow it to play in another country for any reason, then the board will have to submit its government’s instructions in writing, which we have not done yet. “.
