Along with the cabinet reshuffle in Karnataka, there is also a strong debate over changing the state Congress president. This was stated by Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara on Thursday. He said that along with the reshuffle in the cabinet, there is also talk of changing the president of the state Congress. However, he also said that it is up to the party leadership to decide on these matters. Currently, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar holds the post of State Congress President.
DK Shivakumar has completed 4 years as president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC). Replying to a question, G Parameshwara said, ‘The state Congress president has gone to Delhi. I have learned that the Chief Minister is also going today. Tomorrow there is a meeting of the Congressional Labor Commission. They go for that. After the meeting, I don’t know if he will talk to the high command about the cabinet reshuffle or not.

Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara told reporters, ‘Along with the cabinet reshuffle, we are also hearing discussions about changing the state Congress president. Therefore, I don’t know what decision the Chief Minister and the State President will take on these two things after consulting the high command. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah left for the national capital on Thursday afternoon, while Shivakumar is already present in Delhi.
On the issue of change of Karnataka Pradesh Congress president, Parameshwara said he has only heard discussions about it. But I’m not sure what stage it is at. Previously he held the responsibility of President of the State Congress. He said: ‘While cabinet reshuffle is being discussed. Similarly, there is also debate about the change of KPCC president. This has been left to the high command. They will take the decision in consultation with the Chief Minister and the current Speaker.
Asked if his division would change in the cabinet reshuffle, Parameshwara said it is up to the high command to decide. He said: ‘Until now I have followed the decisions of the high command and fulfilled the responsibilities given to me for the last 35 years. I am willing to continue doing it.
‘It has been 5 years since Shivkumar became president’
Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao also said that there is discussion in some circles about changing the party (state) president. Because it has been more than 5 years since DK Shivkumar took charge. He said, ‘Shivkumar has done a good job as president. They have brought the party to power. They are working day and night. There is no other discussion about this but it has been more than 5 years since he became president and he has other responsibilities.

He said if he continues in office then we don’t have any problem. But if we have a full-time president, then there is nothing wrong with it. Let’s see what decisions the top leadership of Congress makes. Since the Lok Sabha election results, there has been speculation about cabinet reshuffle and evaluation of ministers’ work. Some MLAs have openly expressed their desire to become ministers.
