A final agreement on seats has not yet been reached
After several days of deadlock, the MVA on Wednesday announced the seat-sharing formula for elections to the 288-member state assembly. Under this, it was announced that Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress and NCP’s Sharad Pawar faction will contest on 85 seats each, while discussions are still going on to seal the final deal.

There is a dilemma over 33 seats
There is also talk that the three parties involved in the Mahavikas Aghadi are talking about dividing the remaining 33 seats among themselves and some among smaller parties. Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut on Thursday indicated that Mahavikas Aghadi allies could swap some seats among themselves.
The meeting was postponed last week.
This CEC Congress meeting was supposed to be held last week but was postponed due to differences between Mahavikas Aghadi leaders. However, Karva Chauth was cited behind this. There is also talk that Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena is adamant in demanding more seats, but Congress and NCP leaders are not ready. Recently, Uddhav Thackeray had also met Sharad Pawar to end differences over seats.
