The Jalalpur police, which is on alert ahead of the Diwali festival, managed to nab an explosive substance worth Rs 5 lakh being transported illegally and also arrested the accused. It may be noted that on the occasion of Diwali festival, the police administration is on alert mode so that illegal explosive substances are not sold or taken anywhere illegally. In this context, on Friday afternoon the police received information from an informant that explosives were being transported illegally in a van. According to information from the informant, the police chased the vehicle and caught it near Sheikhpura Rajkumari in Kotwali area. During the investigation, explosive substances worth approximately Rs 5 lakh were found. The police seized the vehicle and arrested the accused. The accused said that he took the firecrackers to his town to sell them. The accused has been identified as Ashok Kumar Bind, son of Shyamlal Bind, resident of Pura Sarwan police station, Shahganj district, Jaunpur. Sub-inspector Ghulam Rasool, constables Rohit Singh and Anand Pratap Singh were present in the arrest team. Kotwal Santosh Kumar Singh said legal action is being taken to arrest the accused.
