He said the plan will be implemented at two levels. At the national level, implementation will be carried out by the National Program Implementation Agency and at the state level by the State Implementing Agencies, distribution companies or the energy department of the respective state.
Grant of Rs 85,000 under the scheme
He said that as per the scheme, there is a provision of subsidy of Rs 33,000 for a kilowatt system, Rs 66,000 for 2 kilowatts and Rs 85,000 for 3 kilowatts. He said that under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, families will benefit from a reduction in electricity bills and will be able to earn additional income by selling surplus electricity to distribution companies.
For installation of rooftop solar system, an incentive of Rs 1,000 per unit will be given to the Gram Panchayat/urban local body.
