The country’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval released the book ‘India’s Strategic Culture: The Mahabharata and Kautilya Mode of Warfare’ by famous defense expert Major General (Retd) Dr GD Bakshi (Gagan Deep Bakshi ). In his speech on this occasion, he said: ‘Why do we fight wars? Is there pleasure in killing rival soldiers? What are our military objectives and how do we achieve them?
He further said: ‘The military objectives of any country are to break the self-confidence of the rival nation and the self-confidence of the country can be broken by defeating its army in war. When you defeat your opponent on the battlefield, he is ready to make peace with you on your terms. Whether it was the war between Ukraine and Russia or any other, one of the main tasks that was neglected was to generate and strengthen national will. About 100 years ago, a person who stepped forward to do this was Swami Vivekananda.’
On the impact of social media, Doval said, ‘The credibility of social media is gradually eroding. You should focus on finding and exposing stories on social media that show complete and blatant lies. It is necessary to counter fake news spread on social media by using social media. Some of these posts are made on social media about the Indian Army, which can reduce the morale of our defense forces. Sometimes things are written that make our soldiers lose faith in their leadership. This needs to be strongly opposed. If the defense forces people can do this, then it’s fine.
Major General (Retd) GD Bakshi has written many books like ‘Bose or Gandhi: Who Brought India Independence?’, ‘Russia-Ukraine War: Lessons Learned’. He is a former Indian Army officer and expresses his opinions as a defense expert on different television channels and newspapers.
