Former Congress president and MP Rahul Gandhi is said to be angry over the seat distribution in Maharashtra. The Congress Central Election Committee meeting was held on Friday at the party headquarters in Delhi in connection with the Maharashtra Assembly elections. If sources are to be believed, Rahul Gandhi walked out of the meeting midway. He is angry at having given up seats held by the Congress Party to the MVA’s ally, Shiv Sena (UBT).
According to Congress sources, in the Central Election Committee meeting, Rahul Gandhi raised questions over the decision of the Maharashtra Congress leaders to grant strong and specially reserved seats in areas like Vidarbha and Mumbai to the Shiv Sena (UBT). Furthermore, he was also angry with the names of the candidates that the selection committee handed over to the CEC. He said the names create a feeling of bias toward many state leaders.

Rahul Gandhi believes that the Maharashtra Congress leaders did not play their role properly during the seat sharing talks. He expressed his discontent and left the Central Election Committee meeting midway. The high command had entrusted Maharashtra Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat with the responsibility of holding talks with MVA allies Sharad Pawar’s NCP and Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena over Vidarbha and Mumbai seats.
Let us tell you that there is less than a month left for the Maharashtra Assembly elections, but the Maha Vikas Aghadi is failing to reach a consensus on seat distribution. The Congress, Uddhav Sena and Sharad Pawar’s party had earlier said in a press conference that in the elections to the 288-member Maharashtra Assembly, the three parties had decided to contest 85-85 seats and a decision would also be taken over the remaining 33 seats. Taken soon. However, it was later said that no consensus had been reached between the three MVA parties on the distribution of seats.

Let us tell you that Samajwadi Party is also demanding 5 seats in Mumbai. Samajwadi Party’s Maharashtra unit president Abu Azmi on Friday said that if we do not get 5 seats in the MVA by 5 pm on Saturday, we will field our candidates in 25 seats. Now a new formula is emerging, in which Congress can contest elections in 102-104 seats, Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena in 90-95 seats and Sharad Pawar’s NCP in 70-75 seats.
The Congress CEC meeting was attended by party president Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, general secretary of the organization KC Venugopal, Congress election in-charge in Maharashtra Ramesh Chennithala, Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole, and some other senior leaders associated with the state leadership. On the other hand, Mahayuti has almost decided to share a seat. The grand alliance includes the BJP, Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar’s NCP. The three parties have published their first list of candidates.
