After Ratan Tata’s death, there was a lot of discussion about his property and his will. The question on people’s minds was who would be the ultimate owner of their property? In such a situation, the will of the industrial veteran has now been revealed. According to the Hurun India Rich List published in August, Ratan Tata had around 0.83% stake in Tata Sons and his total wealth was Rs 7,900 crore. While it included other assets, his name had an estimated total ownership worth Rs 10,000 crore.
The responsibility of executing Ratan Tata’s will fell to his half-sisters Shirin and Diana Jejibhoy along with lawyer Darius Khambata and his close friend Mehli Mistry. According to a TOI report, not all the details of Ratan Tata’s will have been made public, but it is certain that a large part of his assets will go to the charity Ratan Tata Endowment Foundation (RTEF).
Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran will lead the Foundation and continue Tata’s vision of welfare and social service. According to Tata’s will, the Foundation will also benefit from the liquidation of its initial investments through RNT Associates and RNT Advisors, which will significantly boost its charitable initiatives.
His cook’s name is also mentioned in Ratan Tata’s will.
According to The Times of India, the will includes provisions for close family members, including his brother Jimmy Tata and half-sisters Shirin and Deanna Jejeebhoy. This also includes Tata’s loyal household staff, such as his cook Rajan Shaw and butler Subbiah, who have served him for decades.
Shantanu Naidu got relief
Tata’s executive assistant and confidant Shantanu Naidu is also a party to the will. According to the report, Tata waived the personal loan taken by Naidu for education and gave up his stake in all of Naidu’s businesses, Goodfellows. This great relief given to Naidu shows how close Shantanu was to Ratan Tata.
Pet Doc’s Permanent Care
Ratan Tata has made sure to take care of his pet German shepherd Tito for life. The will states that Tito, who was adopted 5 or 6 years ago, will remain in Shaw’s care.
The collection of 20 to 30 luxury cars located at Ratan Tata’s Colaba residence and Taj Wellington Mews is yet to be allocated, with options such as auction or public display. His famous Alibaug beach bungalow and his Mumbai residence on Juhu Tara Road are also part of the property. The decision in this regard has not yet been made public.
