Vice Chancellor of Delhi University Prof. Yogesh Singh has been inspecting the colleges for the last 3 days. In this series, on Sunday he visited the schools on the south campus. In addition to evaluating the cleaning system himself, he also talks with the directors and officials concerned. Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi University Students' Union Elections 2024 Prof. Satyapal Singh said that many universities have been inspected by the vice-chancellor himself, while in many places the inspection has been carried out by other officials along with the team. He said that during the DUSU 2024 elections, some committees were formed to remove posters and flexing etc. placed on properties. Now all the schools have been inspected by the committees.
The electoral director said that with the cooperation of the students and the university, the defaced property was cleaned. Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh constantly monitors the arrangements. He himself visits faculties and departments and takes stock of the provisions. Pro. Satyapal Singh said that as per the directions of the Hon'ble Delhi High Court, on October 23, all the colleges/departments/institutions/centres were asked to immediately take necessary steps for cleaning and submit the status report . According to the reports received, more than 90% of the faculties/departments/institutions/centers have freed their facilities from any type of deterioration. In such a situation, student organizations speculate that perhaps the High Court will decide on the publication of the results in its next order.
He said that Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh, in a meeting held on October 23, noted that the University Committee for Prevention of Defacement of Property (UCPDP) was constituted in August 2018. The Vice Chancellor has constituted the UCPDP Committee for in accordance with the guidelines of the Hon'ble High Court of Delhi. The notification to this effect was issued on October 24. On October 24, 2024 itself, the Vice Chancellor called a meeting with the DUSU candidates and ordered the students to take all possible measures to eliminate the distortion. The Vice Chancellor has also directed senior officials of the University to visit the colleges/departments/institutions/centres and university campuses and inspect the arrangements to remove defacement of public/private property.
The chief electoral officer said that the vice-chancellor himself along with senior officials of the university inspected Hindu College, Kirori Mal College, Ramjas College and Hansraj College on October 24. On October 25, he visited Satyavati College (morning and afternoon) and SGTB Khalsa College. On Sunday, October 26, the Vice-Chancellor visited Motilal Nehru College (morning and afternoon), Ram Lal Anand College and Aryabhatta College and took stock of the cleaning measures. Pro Satyapal Singh said that many DUSU candidates along with their teams also cleaned the walls and also sent before and after cleaning photographs to the election office. Two candidates have also sent videos of their cleaning.
On October 26, the Chief Electoral Officer of DUSU Elections deployed teams of 20 observers on 10 different routes in all universities/departments/institutions/centres to inspect filth in and around the universities. These teams presented their status report on the cleaning of dirt in universities/departments/institutions/centres in the afternoon. He himself visited Hansraj and Lakshmi Bai schools to inspect the cleanliness of these schools. All observers said they had observed that dirt had been removed in and around the universities.
