The by-elections will be held in the Meerapur assembly seat of Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh. Because of this, the electoral battle began, candidates from all parties presented their nominations. A total of 34 nominations have been submitted for this election.
While the Azad Samaj Party named Zahid Hussain its candidate for Meerapur assembly seat in Muzaffarnagar, the Bahujan Samaj Party gave ticket to Shahnazar, the Samajwadi Party gave ticket to Sumbul Rana, while Lok Dal's Mithlesh Pal will contest for the NDA.
If we talk about Azad Samaj Party, then it has chosen Zahid Hussain from Jhoja community as its candidate from Muslim community, so that it can attract the votes of Jhoja community and Dalit community. On the other hand, the Bahujan Samaj Party has also fielded Shahnazar as its candidate from the Muslim community to garner Dalit and Muslim votes.
The Samajwadi Party also gave ticket to Sumbul Rana from the Muslim community, while the Lok Dal named Mithlesh Pal its NDA candidate.
Political experts say that except the Lok Dal candidate, all have fielded Muslim candidates. So it now seems clear that wherever the vote of the Muslim community is divided, it will directly benefit.
