The Delhi High Court has transferred 256 judges from higher and lower judicial courts in the national capital. New posts have been allotted to 233 judicial officers of the Delhi Judicial Service and 23 judicial officers of the Delhi Higher Judicial Service. This also includes the judge who heard the case against former BJP MP and Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
The Delhi High Court issued two separate notifications on October 25 regarding the transfer of judges. Apart from transfers, these appointments also include sending around 70 judicial officers to different districts after completion of their training. The notification read: ‘The Chief Justice and judges of this court have been posted and transferred to the Delhi Judicial Service with immediate effect.
Jitendra Singh will be the special judge of the Rouse Avenue Court.
The Registrar General of the Delhi High Court on Friday issued a similar notification for higher judicial services as well. According to the list, Additional Sessions Judge Jitendra Singh has been transferred to Rouse Avenue as special judge. This court fell vacant after the retirement of special judge Rakesh Syal.
Justice Rakesh Syal used to run a special court to hear cases against MLAs. This included a case against former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Aam Aadmi Party MLA Amanatullah Khan. Congress leader Jagdish Tytler’s case related to the Sikh riots was also in this court.
Gomti Manocha transferred to Patiala House court
At the same time, Patiala House Court special judge (POCSO) Chhavi Kapoor has been transferred to Rouse Avenue Court as special judge. The Patiala House Court is hearing the cancellation report filed by the Delhi Police in the POCSO case against former BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Additional sessions judge Gomti Manocha replaced special judge Chhavi Kapoor. The wrestlers’ case against the former head of the Indian Wrestling Federation is also in this court.
