Raipur: All parties have intensified preparations for the by-election to a seat in Chhattisgarh. In the same sequence, Congress also announced the name of its candidate for the by-election to Raipur city South Assembly seat. The Congress Party has included youth leader Akash Sharma in the electoral field. Let us tell you that Chhattisgarh South Assembly seat from Raipur city fell vacant after Bharatiya Janata Party MLA and former minister Brijmohan Agarwal became Lok Sabha member from Raipur parliamentary constituency. Now the Congress has announced the name of its candidate for this seat.

Who was named candidate?

Congress state unit spokesperson said, “Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has approved Akash Sharma as a candidate for the upcoming Raipur city south constituency by-election.” He said Akash Sharma had earlier been the state president of the National Students Union of India (NSUI). According to political experts, the Congress can benefit from the fielding of young Akash Sharma from Raipur city’s south seat, which is considered the BJP’s stronghold. Even before the Congress, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in the state fielded former MP Sunil Soni for the by-elections.

The vote will take place on November 13.

We inform you that recently, in a press conference, the Election Commission announced by-elections in the sole seat of Chhattisgarh. Along with this, the dates of assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand were also announced. Let us tell you that candidates will have to file their nomination for the South Assembly seat of Raipur city in Chhattisgarh before October 25. Voting will be held at the Raipur City South headquarters on November 13, while the election results will be declared on November 23 with counting of votes.

253 polling stations were created

Let us tell you that in the assembly elections held last year, the Bharatiya Janata Party won 54 of the 90 seats in the state. In this election, the Congress won 35 seats, while the Gondwana Republic Party won one seat. According to officials, a total of 253 polling stations have been set up in one assembly seat for the by-elections. Five companies of security personnel will be deployed to maintain law and order during the elections. (entrance-agency)
