Mayawati’s reaction to the death in police custody case

Uttar Pradesh: Action has been taken in the case of Mohit’s death in custody at Chinhat police station in Lucknow. Chinhat inspector Ashwani Kumar Chaturvedi has been eliminated. In his place, Bharat Pathak was appointed chief of Chinhat Kotwali police station. At the same time, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president Mayawati also reacted to the incident.

“The government must take effective measures to provide justice”

Mayawati posted on her social media account ‘X’: “It is natural that there is anger and resentment among the family and people over the alleged death of businessman Mohit Pandey in police custody in UP capital Lucknow. This incident is highly condemnable “The government should take effective measures to provide justice to the victim’s family.” He further said, “Apart from this, the daily incidents of atrocities against women in the state are very worrying, so the government should take action.” strict legal measures against such criminals, which is extremely necessary.

Akhilesh cornered the state government over the incident.

Earlier, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, reacting to the incident, took aim at the state BJP government and said the name ‘police custody’ should be changed to ‘torture house’. “This is the second news of death in police custody (read murder) in the last 16 days in the capital of Uttar Pradesh,” Akhilesh Yadav said in a post on ‘X’. The government, expert at changing names, should now change the name from ‘Police Custody’ to ‘Torture House’. Every demand from the victim’s relatives must be attended to, we are with them.

Victim’s family alleges CCTV footage

CCTV footage has also emerged in the case of Mohit’s death in police custody, in which the youth is seen lying in jail. However, family members have claimed that the police beat Mohit so badly in custody that he died and they deliberately leaked a small part of the video to protect themselves. Mohit’s brother Shobharam said he too was detained by the police but was later released. He alleged that the police brutally beat his brother in front of him and he could not do anything. After Mohit’s death, the police took him to the hospital.
