Catholic Archdiocese of Ranchi afternoon. The Inter-Catholic Parish Football Tournament organized in memory of Cardinal Telesphore P. Toppo successfully concluded with the final match on October 21, 2024. Patracawali Palli team was the winner of this tournament.
Ranchi, Monday, October 21, 2024 (Ranchi Press): The tournament started on October 17 and concluded on October 21. Made on the day of the announcement of the cardinal appointment of Cardinal Telesphorus P. Toppo. The final match between Patracwali and Dighiya Palli was played on the same day. Patracawali team was the winner of this tournament, Dighiya Palli team was the runner-up and Samlong Palli team secured the third position. The winning team received a cash prize of Rs 51,000, the second place team received Rs 31,000 and the third place team received a cash prize of Rs 21,000. The entire prize amount was donated by Shri Bandhu Tirkey.
Ser. The Cardinal Telesphore P. Toppo Memorial football tournament concluded with the Ranga Ranga program. The St. Joseph girls entertained all the sports lovers with tribal dances before the final match. On this occasion, Archbishop of Ranchi Archdiocese Vincent Aind and former Minister of Education and Sports Shri Bandhu Tirkey were present as chief guests. In his speech, Shri Bandhu Tirkey praised the important role of the Catholic Church in the field of education and protection of culture and called on all youth to discipline their lives and honestly fulfill their responsibilities towards the society. Likewise, the Archbishop of Ranchi Vincent Aind also encouraged all the footballers with his message. Teams from 20 parishes participated in this tournament. The players entertained all football lovers and spectators with their good sporting performance. The entire final match was broadcast live by the Ranchi Catholic Media team on their YouTube channel.
On the occasion of the final match of the Telesphore Cardinal P. Toppo Memorial Football Tournament, Archbishop Vincent Iand of Ranchi, Shri Bandhu Tirkey Ji, Fr. Anand David Khalkho, Vicar General of the Catholic Diocese of Ranchi, Fr. Roshan Teedu, chief organizer of the tournament, Fr. Sanjay Tirkey, parish priest of Hulhundu parish, other priests, nuns and football lovers participated.
