Israeli attack in Lebanon.
At least 21 people have been killed in Israel’s attack on Lebanon. The Health Ministry says at least 21 people were killed in Israeli airstrikes in three different areas of southern Lebanon. The ministry said nine people were killed and 38 wounded in an attack in Haret Saida, near the port city of Sidon, while at least seven people, including a nurse and three rescuers, were killed in the southern village of Ain Baal and two in Five people died in Burj al-Shemali. The IDF has not commented on any airstrikes.
At least 22 people have been killed in Israeli attacks in northern Gaza. Palestinian medical officials said Sunday that Israeli attacks on the worst-hit northern region continue for a third week and aid groups have described it as a humanitarian disaster.
Attack on many houses and buildings.
The Gaza Health Ministry’s emergency service said 11 women and two children were among those killed in attacks on several homes and buildings in the northern city of Beit Lahiya on Saturday night. Another 15 people were injured and the death toll could rise, he added. The Israeli military said it attacked militants in a building in Beit Lahiya and took measures to protect civilians from harm. He described the figures published by the media as incorrect, but did not mention the number of victims.
Israel has been carrying out large-scale air and ground strikes in northern Gaza for the past three weeks. He says Hamas extremists have reorganized there. Hundreds of people have been killed and thousands of Palestinians have fled Gaza City in the latest wave of displacement during the year-long war.
War with Hezbollah in Lebanon
Israel is carrying out daily attacks in Gaza. It is also fighting a war with Hezbollah in Lebanon. An explosive drone launched from Lebanon crashed into a building in an industrial area in northern Israel, injuring two people, authorities said. A fire broke out due to an Israeli airstrike in the southern area of Beirut. Israel launched airstrikes against Iran on Saturday morning, saying they targeted military sites in retaliation for ballistic missiles fired at Israel by Iran earlier this month. Iran supports Hamas and Hezbollah.
Call for retaliation after attack
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Sunday that Israel’s attack on Iran this weekend should neither be exaggerated nor downplayed. However, Khamenei refrained from calling for retaliatory measures following this attack. Iran’s military has already said that a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip or Lebanon is better than any retaliatory strike against Israel, but Iranian officials have also said they have the right to respond. Khamenei said the misdeeds committed by the Israeli regime two nights ago should neither be exaggerated nor minimized.
The danger of war increases
He said misconceptions about the Israeli regime should be eliminated. It is important to convince them of the strength and will of the Iranian nation and its youth. Khamenei said it is up to the authorities to decide how to convince the Israeli regime of the will and strength of the Iranian people and how to take actions that serve the nation’s interests. The attacks raise the risk of a full-scale war between the two archenemies at a time when Iranian-backed extremist groups in West Asia – Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon – are already at war with Israel.
Israel says it has carried out attacks in Gaza targeting militants only and blames Hamas for civilian casualties because the militants fight in densely populated areas. The Red Cross described conditions in northern Gaza as dire.
1,200 people killed
On October 7, 2023, Hamas attacked southern Israel, killing about 1,200 people and taking about 250 hostage. About 100 hostages are still in Gaza, and a third of them are feared dead. The Palestinian Health Ministry said 42,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israel’s retaliation following the Hamas attack.
