There are still two months left for the year 2024 to end and this year 71 employees of Pune Municipal Corporation have resigned. Also 13 employees retired of their own volition and left their positions prematurely. Those leaving their jobs include everyone from junior employees to high-ranking officials. Employees have cited work pressure, changes at work, health and mental problems as reasons for leaving work.
The Department of General Administration says lawsuits are underway in many positions. Because of this, no recruitment has been done 10 to 12 times. The rules regarding new hires have not yet been decided. At the same time, all former employees have retired. In such a situation, the department is forced to hire people on a contractual basis.
There were excellent hires in 2022
After the recruitment ban is lifted in 2022, 135 young engineers were hired and a total of 448 different positions were filled across all departments. Administrative officials said that most of those who resigned were preparing for competitive exams and some of them got good jobs, so they resigned from the PMC.
