There are assembly elections in Maharashtra and only 30 hours are left for the nomination. The ruling Mahayuti and the opposition Mahavikas Aghadi alliance face each other in the elections. But both alliances could not reach a consensus on many seats. MVA is yet to declare candidates for 29 seats and Mahayuti for 53 seats. Meanwhile, the Samajwadi Party, an ally of the MVA, appears to be taking a different path.
Both alliances are believed to be at odds with their allies on the issue of seat sharing and due to lack of consensus, many other seats have also been put on hold. However, it is likely that this afternoon or evening both parties will clarify their positions and the names of all candidates will be announced.
Nomination deadline until Tuesday afternoon.
Assembly elections are being held in Maharashtra for 288 seats. Voting will be in a single phase on November 20 and the results will be known on November 23. The last date to submit nomination proposals is October 29. This means that candidates will only be able to submit nominations until 3 p.m. on Tuesday. Subsequently, the nomination papers will be examined on October 30. Nomination papers can be picked up until November 4. There are 36 districts in Maharashtra and 9.63 million voters. The term of the assembly here will end on November 26.
