It is estimated that by 2050, the number of senior citizens in India will be 34.7 crore. If this happens, by that time 20.8 percent of India’s population will be elderly. Whereas, by the end of this century, i.e. by the year 2100, more than 36 per cent of India’s population will be elderly.
