Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Tata Aircraft Complex at Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) campus along with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez in Vadodara, Gujarat. C-295 transport aircraft will be manufactured in this complex. Subsequently, the Airbus company will supply 56 C-295 aircraft to the Indian Air Force (IAF). Of these, 16 aircraft will come from Spain, of which 6 have already arrived, while 40 will be manufactured at the Tata Aircraft Complex in Vadodara. Let us tell you how the Indian defense industry will gain huge benefits from this project.

Most importantly, this is happening for the first time, when military aircraft are manufactured in India through the Final Assembly Line (FAL). Actually, FAL is a manufacturing process, in which semi-finished products are moved from one workstation to another and then the final product is ready.

Tata Advanced Systems Limited will manufacture 40 C-295 transport aircraft in India. This will involve the complete development of a complete ecosystem for the entire aircraft lifecycle, from production to assembly, testing and delivery to maintenance.

The MSME industry will also contribute

Apart from Tata, Bharat Electronics Limited, Bharat Dynamics Limited as well as micro, small and medium government and private industries in the defense sector will also contribute to this project. In addition to the final aircraft assembly line (FAL), the elements necessary for assembly and testing will also be developed. Vadodara’s TASL has been designed as a high-tech aircraft manufacturing hub. Control the environment.

“Manufacturing in India will get a boost”

The project has partnered with micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in India for the supply of PETA components and systems. Increasing indigenous content in aircraft will support the Government of India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative and the self-reliant India initiative. Dependence on imports will also be reduced. This program will involve a large group of Indian suppliers, creating a strong local supply chain and industrial ecosystem covering multiple states in India. More than 10,000 jobs will be created across the country through this supply chain.

Preparation to do MRO unit too

The C295 Indian Manufacturing Program will have a strategic impact in the future, serving as a model for future defense cooperation and strengthening India’s aerospace industry. Tata Advanced Systems also plans to set up an MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) unit for the C295 in India. This will ensure long-term maintenance capabilities within the country and end the current system of outsourcing these functions internationally. The facility is designed to accommodate production rates for future aircraft model or industry expansions. It has the potential to become an aerospace innovation center that includes research and development activities in collaboration with academic institutions and industrial partners.

The plane is equipped with indigenous war dress.

The characteristics of this aircraft include short takeoffs and landings. There is a rear ramp door for rapid deployment of troops and cargo. An indigenous electronic warfare suite supplied by Bharat Electronics Limited and Bharat Dynamics Limited is included. Let us tell you that aircraft equipped with electronic warfare suits can reduce the effect of enemy radio and radar systems.
