Air quality index exceeds 300 in 16 cities in the state
Chandigarh News (Aaj Samaj) Chandigarh: Despite the government’s strictness, farmers do not stop burning stubble in the fields. Because the level of air pollution in the state has increased so much that even breathing has become difficult. The cases of stubble burning in the fields are continuously increasing. The government is also registering cases and imposing fines on farmers if they are caught burning stubble. Farmers are blacklisted so that they cannot sell their crops on the market in the future. The government also monitors farmers through satellite. At the same time, the duty to stop stubble burning has also been imposed on village secretaries and sarpanches. But even after so much rigor, farmers do not stop burning stubble. The Supreme Court itself has issued strict orders against the farmers.
Today, due to stubble burning by farmers, the air quality index has crossed 300 in 16 cities of Haryana. The situation has become very bad in Gurugram and Fatehabad. The air quality index has reached 500 in Gurugram and 416 in Fatehabad. With poor air quality, the risk of people getting sick has increased. The number of patients with cough and respiratory diseases is increasing in hospitals. Most people also face the problem of eye irritation. In 16 cities of the state the air quality index crossed 300. They include the districts of Faridabad, Gurugram, Ambala, Bahadurgarh, Bhiwani, Hisar, Charkhi Dadri, Dharuhera, Jind, Kaithal, Kurukshetra, Mandikheda, Panchkula, Sonipat and Yamunanagar.
34 farmers have been arrested
So far, stubble has been burnt in 713 places in the state. Following the Supreme Court’s rebuke, the Haryana government also seems to be taking some steps. The government has suspended 26 employees. Charges have been filed against 11 officers and notices have been served on 383 officers. Besides, cases have been registered against 186 farmers so far. 34 farmers have also been arrested. Seeing the situation worsening, Grape 2 was implemented in Delhi NCR. 14 districts of Haryana belong to the NCR. Which includes Faridabad, Gurugram, Nuh, Rohtak, Sonipat, Rewari, Jhajjar, Panipat, Palwal, Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Mahendragarh, Jind and Karnal.
