Controversy again at CPM meeting

Opposition MPs walked out of Monday’s JPC meeting on the Waqf Amendment Bill. He alleged that a proper presentation was not made at the meeting. According to MPs from opposition parties, it is a mistake to take into account today’s report of the Delhi Waqf Board. The Delhi government does not accept the report of its current administrator and therefore it should not be taken into consideration.

MPs from opposition parties walked out of the meeting protesting against the presentation of the Delhi Waqf Board. Opposition members claimed that the administrator of the Delhi Waqf Board, who appeared before the committee, had made changes in the presentation without the knowledge of the Delhi government. Aam Aadmi Party member Sanjay Singh, DMK MP Mohammad Abdullah, Congress’s Naseer Hussain and Mohammad Javed and some other opposition members walked out of the meeting.

The opposition members alleged that Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) commissioner and administrator of Delhi Waqf Board Ashwini Kumar completely changed the preliminary report of the Waqf Board without the approval of the Chief Minister.

Last Tuesday there was also a commotion.

There was also a stir at the CPM meeting last Tuesday. There was a heated argument between TMC’s Kalyan Banerjee and BJP’s Abhijeet Gangopadhyay. During the meeting both leaders became very aggressive. Kalyan Banerjee got so angry that he hit the water bottle and broke it. For his behavior he was suspended from the committee for a day.

At the same time, Gangopadhyay suffered injuries to his thumb and index finger, for which he had to receive first aid. Later, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi and Aam Aadmi Party leader Sanjay Singh took him back to the meeting room.
