The Pakistan Cricket Board on Sunday decided to name Mohammad Rizwan as captain of white-ball cricket. But the next day, Monday, former South African player Gary Kirsten, who held the position of head coach of the team, resigned from his position. After Kirsten’s resignation, PCB appointed former Australian player Jason Gillespie as head coach of white-ball cricket.
PCB shared the information published in X
The phase of changes in the Pakistan cricket team does not stop. Just yesterday the names of the team’s new captain and vice-captain were announced. The next day, Pakistan Cricket Board shared the post on the social media account X and informed about the team’s new head coach. While sharing the post, PCB wrote that Gary Kirsten submitted his resignation from the head coaching position, which was accepted by the board. Now Jason Gillespie will be the new head coach of the Pakistan men’s team for the white-ball cricket series to be held in Australia in the month of November.
The team’s performance was poor under Kirsten’s direction.
Former South African player Gary Kirsten was appointed head coach of the Pakistan cricket team in April 2024. Kirsten’s tenure did not last long. He remained as head coach only for about 8 months. However, the performance of the Pakistan team under his leadership has been poor. Due to the crushing defeat against the United States and India in the 2024 T20 World Cup, the Pakistani team was left out of the group stage.
