The lieutenant governor has taken major action in the Rs 200 crore scam allegedly committed by PWD engineers in Delhi government hospitals. Approval has been granted for prosecution under Section 17A of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) will investigate the matter. He has permission to investigate against 5 PWD engineers.

According to sources in LG’s office, the PWD department has committed a Rs 200 crore scam among departments of the Delhi government. In this case, significant action has been taken against 2 assistant engineers and 3 junior engineers. In this, FIR was registered against AE Subhash Chandra Das, AE Subhash Chand, JE Abhinav, JE Raghuraj Solanki and JE Rajesh Aggarwal.

Estimated loss of Rs 200 million to the exchequer.

This scam is related to the work of Delhi hospitals. There is an estimated loss of Rs 200 crore to the public exchequer due to corruption in government hospitals. Five PWD engineers are alleged to have helped different companies in raising favorable tenders in the name of emergency works in many Delhi government hospitals.

Forged signature and manipulation in spot quote

Investigation so far has revealed that these PWD officials made payments to the companies/contractors on the basis of fake invoices. PWD officials forged signatures and manipulated spot quotes to benefit contractors/companies of their choice. This caused a loss of around Rs 200 million to the public exchequer.
