This research by IIT Delhi professor may be a ‘milestone’ in solar energy – IIT Delhi research on solar power development of perovskite solar cells under ambient conditions

Researchers led by Professor Trilok Singh from the Department of Energy Science and Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi have made a breakthrough in the development of perovskite solar cells. His research, published in the prestigious Small Journal, aims to revolutionize the solar energy industry by simplifying and making the solar cell manufacturing process cheaper.

The IIT Delhi team has managed to prepare perovskite solar cells in normal air. This is a major change from traditional methods, which are based on complex anti-solvent processes. With this new method, the manufacturing process could be simpler and cheaper, allowing perovskite solar cells to be produced on a large scale.

The guanidine sulfate salt, which has been added to the cell to increase stability, has a special contribution to this success. This helped reduce stress and defects in the cells, thus improving both the efficiency and durability of these solar cells. These solar cells maintained 87 percent of their original efficiency even after 2,000 hours.

This research can provide an economical and effective alternative in solar technology. Pro. Singh and his team’s work could make solar energy more accessible, enabling widespread use of renewable energy and moving toward a more stable and secure energy future.
