Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will file her nomination for the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-election on Wednesday. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, former party chief Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi will be present on this occasion. According to the news agency, on Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi will also perform a road show from the new Kalpetta bus stand at 11 am. The by-elections are being called after Rahul vacated the Wayanad seat following his decision to retain Amethi after winning both constituencies in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded Navya Haridas against Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi for the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-election. Navya, a mechanical engineer by profession, completed B.Tech in 2007. According to her social media profile, she is a councilor of Kozhikode Corporation and also serves as the state general secretary of BJP Mahila Morcha.

The Electoral Commission announced by-elections for 48 constituencies and two parliamentary seats on October 15. Apart from the assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand, these by-elections will be held in two phases. Voting for the first phase will be held on November 13, and will include 47 assembly constituencies and the parliamentary seat of Wayanad in Kerala. Voting for the second phase will be held on November 20 for Kedarnath assembly seat in Uttarakhand and Nanded parliamentary seat in Maharashtra.
