Actor Vijay’s entry into politics in Tamil Nadu is almost similar to that of Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi and Prashant Kishore in Bihar; What is common is that all three are preparing for the assembly elections in their respective states.
At the first conference of his political party TVK i.e. Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, actor Vijay simultaneously targeted the ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu and the ruling BJP at the Centre. And while DMK has been a target of attacks in the name of family politics, the Congress also comes within its ambit.
More than 3 lakh people are believed to have participated in Vijay’s first political rally held at Vikravandi in Villupuram district. Actor Vijay, popularly known as Thalapathy Vijay, has already tried to make his vision clear and through a metaphor, he has also tried to make his condition and direction clear in the eyes of the people.
At the beginning of his speech, Vijay compared himself to a child facing a snake, which received loud applause. He said: I am a child in politics… I agree, but this child is ready to take the snake in his fist. For his part, he also tried to explain that his political plan is definitely practical.
Addressing DMK, Vijay said a selfish family is looting Tamil Nadu in the name of Dravidian model. And similarly, regarding the BJP, he said that people who are ruining the country through divisive politics are the biggest ideological enemies of TVK i.e. his party. Another thing that was highlighted with great emphasis is that TVK does not consider Dravidian and Tamil nationalism as separate.
What will Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam be like?
Actor Vijay believes that TVK’s ideology is based on the legacy of Tamil leaders, but he himself also points out a big difference. According to Vijay, TVK also supports Dravidian leader EV Ramasamy Periyar, former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K. He will carry forward the legacy of Kamaraj and BR Ambedkar.
Vijay has already made it clear that we will not accept the only thing that Periyar has said, which is his anti-God stance. It is said that we will not be interested in politics that deny God.
If seen, actor Vijay seems to be the latest updated version of Arvind Kejriwal and Prashant Kishore in politics. The things that Arvind Kejriwal was able to understand and learn much later about religion, especially Hindutva, and politics, Vijay had understood even before he came forward.
There are a few other things on which Vijay has made his stance clear. For example, he wants a bilingual policy to be implemented in Tamil Nadu and also wants to make Tamil Nadu drug-free. He also makes his position clear on the caste census, but it is not understood why he wants to abolish the post of governor.
Beneficial or harmful for BJP?
If we look at Vijay’s speech, he seems to be a big threat to the DMK in Tamil Nadu and a big help to the BJP – and behind this belief is his stand which is different from the Dravidian politics on the existence of God.
Firstly, Vijay describes BJP the same way he describes DMK. Mayawati has also been calling the BJP and Congress Nagnath and Sampanath, but everyone knows who benefits from the BSP’s strategies.
Vijay says he doesn’t agree with one thing about Periyar, and that is his anti-God stance. So you don’t want to explain that you do not agree at all with DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin’s stance on Sanatan, but are a firm opponent of that kind of policy?
And anyone who is not a staunch opponent of Sanatan will definitely be able to join the BJP one day, and this hope also increases because Vijay has also clearly indicated that he is not opposed to coalition politics.
There seems to be an effort to fit into the AIADMK space.
J. After Jayalalitha, a huge space has been left empty in Tamil Nadu politics. either. AIADMK’s sphere of influence is shrinking due to the dispute between Panneerselvam and E. Palanisamy. The BJP tried hard to establish a foothold in Tamil Nadu politics by collaborating with the AIADMK, but due to Annamalai’s stubborn stance, the relationship broke down and it could not even make a mark in the Lok Sabha elections.
Vijay is trying to fill the same influence space of AIADMK, the only difference is that, unlike Jayalalitha, he does not seem to be in favor of Shankaracharya’s arrest – and by showing a positive attitude towards Sanatan, there are signs that he will be useful to the BJP in the future also gives.
