In the name of reducing suffering and predicting the future, fraudsters disguise themselves as sages in robes accomplished in siddhi and deceive people. A similar case has now come to light in Ranchi. Ranchi police arrested two members who fooled people by disguising themselves as sadhus. The arrested accused have been identified as Sagar, 32, a resident of Sonipat district of Haryana, and Ravindra Nath, 24, a resident of Najafgarh in southwest Delhi.
Police recovered two gold rings and around ₹2,700 cash from both the accused. The police are questioning the two arrested accused in the context of other people involved in the gang who cheated by posing as sadhus. Police said that both the arrested accused confessed to their crime and said that on the occasion of festivals, they used to rent rooms in hotels or hostels in the surrounding areas, including the capital Ranchi, and used to attack people.
They were trying to steal money and a gold chain from the woman.
Revealing the matter, Ranchi SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha said that on October 27, two sadhus dressed in saffron clothes were trying to cheat Shweta Sinha, a woman resident of Nivaranpur in Chutiya police station area in the capital, Ranchi. The defendants were told that something terrible would happen to them and their family in the future. The thugs were trying to steal money and a gold chain from the woman. In such a situation, the woman became suspicious of him and silently informed the police.
Police have recovered many items.
As soon as information about the case was received, the team formed under the leadership of the police station in charge of Chutiya carried out a raid and nabbed both the goons disguised as sadhus of Nivaranpur. Police said that after strict interrogation, both accused accepted the crime of causing unpleasant incidents to people and cheating by showing fear of witchcraft and snakes. The police also raided the hotel where the two accused were staying after booking a room. During the raid, the police recovered a bundle from the room, in which two gold rings and many other items were also recovered.
Both the accused were dressed in saffron colored clothes and carried with them a bundle disguised as a sadhu. The package contained snakes and many other witchcraft objects. Seeing an elderly person or a woman in a deserted place, he would start talking to them and express his fear that a tragedy or a major accident would happen to his family in the future. After this, they would trick them and take away gold jewelry or money and they would flee.
