Punjab Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar
Ahead of Diwali, the Punjab government has reported good news for drivers and conductors of government buses. Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar directed the department officials to prepare the case on regularization of bus drivers and conductors at the earliest so that it can be sent to the Cabinet for approval. The Cabinet Minister directed officials to prepare a draft policy to take employees from outsourcing to contract.
During the meeting, minister Laljit Singh Bhullar also directed to sympathetically consider the cases of drivers and conductors facing departmental cases. He told officials to ensure immediate elimination of such cases.
Annual salary will increase by 5 percent
Requiring a 5 percent annual salary increase for new drivers/conductors was also discussed. The Cabinet Minister directed the officials that SOPs should be made immediately in this matter so that immediate relief can be ensured to the employees.
He said that the government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is committed to resolving all the legitimate demands of the employees and therefore the Chief Minister has constituted a special departmental committee to resolve the problems of drivers and contract drivers in Punjab Roadways. Increase in night allowance too
Taking another important decision, Laljit Singh Bhullar also increased the night allowance given to drivers and conductors. He told the union representatives that they will now receive Rs 85 per night stay in the state instead of Rs 50 and that the overnight allowance for drivers and conductors operating in other states has been increased from Rs 60 to Rs 120.
