Panch Mahotsav 2024: Panch Mahotsav has started with the festival of Dhanteras. This year Panch Mahotsav will last from October 29 to November 2. After Dhanteras on October 29, Narak Chaturdashi i.e. Chhoti Diwali will be celebrated on October 30. Then will come the great and divine Diwali, which will be celebrated on October 31. Annakoot or Govardhan Puja will be performed on November 2. After this, the brother-sister festival, Bhai-Dooj, will be celebrated on November 3.

Dhanteras
In a way, the festival of lights begins with Dhanteras. On this day, Mother Lakshmi is in Pradosh Kaal and is a stable ascendant. Lord Kuber and Lord Dhanvantari are worshiped. It is believed that by doing this at an auspicious time, Goddess Lakshmi comes to the house and after being satisfied with the puja, remains there permanently. On this day, happiness and prosperity come to the house by the grace of Mother Lakshmi. It is believed that shopping should also be done on this day. By doing this, the wealth of the house increases 13 times.

chaturdashi hell
This year, Narak Chaturdashi is on October 30 and this festival is celebrated on the Chaturdashi date of Krishna Paksha month of Kartik. Narak Chaturdashi is also known by many other names. It is also called Narak Chaudas, Roop Chaudas and Roop Chaturdashi. Since it is celebrated before Diwali, it is also called Chhoti Diwali. On this day, Yamraj, the god of death, is worshiped. On this day, lamps are lit in the corners of the house to pray for freedom from premature death.

Diwali
The main festival of the five-day Panch Mahotsav is Diwali, which will be celebrated on October 31. On this day, Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha take pleasure in worshiping Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha at an auspicious time as per rituals so that their blessings remain. And the festival of Depotsav is celebrated with full enthusiasm by lighting lamps.

puja govardhan
The puja performed on the day after Diwali is called Govardhan Puja. This tradition has continued for centuries. Every year Govardhan Puja is performed on the Pratipada date of Shukla Paksha of the Kartik month. During this time, Govardhan Parvat is made from cow dung outside the house and worshiped. Cow worship also has a special significance in Govardhan Puja. On this day, Lord Krishna lifted a mountain with one finger to save the people of Vrindavan from the wrath of Indra, the god of rain.

Bhai Dooj
The last festival of Panch Mahotsav is Bhai Dooj. Bhai Dooj is celebrated on the second day of Shukla Paksha month of Kartik month. On this day, sisters apply tilak on the foreheads of their brothers and pray for their long life, happiness and prosperity.
