Traffic came to a complete standstill in Delhi on Tuesday. Due to this, there was a rush of shoppers in the markets to celebrate Dhanteras, due to which passengers had to face many delays and inconveniences. According to PTI, drivers said there were traffic jams at many places including Badarpur Flyover, CV Raman Marg, Punjabi Bagh, Badarpur Mehrauli Road, Taimur Nagar-Maharani Bagh Road, Ashram and Yamuna Vihar.

Sunil Yadav, legal advisor of a private company, said, “There was a serious traffic jam from Barhapula flyover towards Sarai Kale Khan. Vehicles were moving slowly on the road on that particular stretch.”

Another commuter, Vivek Singh, said there was heavy traffic between Madhuban Chowk and Rohini East metro station.

Delhi Police said elaborate arrangements have been made for smooth flow of traffic. A senior traffic police officer said they have intensified checks on the road. He said: “We have deployed personnel on bicycles to check encroachment on busy roads, which could lead to traffic jams in the area. People coming to markets have also been informed to park their vehicles at designated places. Please park only in .”

“To ensure smooth traffic, employees have installed loudspeakers on their bicycles. Unauthorized vehicles are not allowed to enter the country’s capital. A continuous campaign against intrusions in crowded places is also being carried out” said the official. “

Rakesh Yadav, president of Sadar Bazaar Traders Association, said, “Barricades have been put up at all the gates of Sadar Bazaar, which has helped reduce traffic jams. Similarly, security has also been increased in Sarojini Nagar and Khan Market.

Ashok Randhawa, president of Sarojini Nagar Mini Market Traders Association, said: “The police have made elaborate arrangements in our market. Heavy traffic jam in Ghazipur and Tilak Nagar too

On the other hand, there was heavy traffic on GTB Nagar towards Nirankari Road in East Delhi’s Ghazipur area. A car caught fire here. There was also a traffic jam on Om Jail Road in Tilak Nagar. In addition to this, heavy traffic was observed in many areas of the national capital.

Driver Amit Saxena said, “I was coming from Vasundhara and got stuck in Preet Vihar. It took me around two hours to reach ITO as Vikas Marg was completely stuck. The same situation was near Sarai Kale Khan at night.”

Let us tell you that ahead of the festive season, Delhi Metro has announced that it will run 60 additional trips on Tuesdays and Wednesdays to increase passenger convenience and reduce congestion. The metro makes about 4,000 trips daily.
