Currently, the Supreme Court is closed due to Diwali holidays. The Supreme Court will be inaugurated on November 4 and from November 4 to 8 the CJI Bench will deliver important decisions. The Supreme Court is closed on Saturdays and Sundays, November 9 is a Saturday and November 10 is a Sunday. Due to this, only 5 days are left in CJI DY Chandrachud’s tenure.
Madarsa Law Case
The decision in the Madrasa Act case was reserved after its hearing before the Supreme Court on October 22. On Tuesday, October 22, the Supreme Court heard petitions challenging the decision of the Allahabad High Court, in which the Uttar Pradesh Madrasa Education Board Act, 2004 was declared unconstitutional. In this case, the Supreme Court has reserved its decision after hearing the arguments of all parties. During the hearing of this case, the CJI had said that secularism means live and let live.
AMU Minority Status
A seven-judge bench of CJI DY Chandrachud had reserved its decision after hearing the issue regarding minority status of Aligarh Muslim University. At this hearing the decision was reserved as to whether or not AMU’s status as a minority institution should be maintained. In the year 1968, a decision was taken regarding the minority status of Aligarh Muslim University and the minority status of AMU was removed.

A nine-judge bench under Chief Justice DY Chandrachud is examining Article 39 (B) of the Constitution, which deals with redistribution of property for the common good. Congress had started this political discussion about the distribution of property, after which this matter reached the courts.
LMV license case
The controversy in the LMV license case is whether holders of a light motor vehicle license can drive a transport vehicle of the light motor vehicle class weighing more than 7,500 kg. The court is determining whether the holder of a light motor vehicle license can drive a transport vehicle of the same category. This issue has generated controversy over insurance claims related to accidents involving such vehicles. The Supreme Court had reserved its decision on this matter on August 21.
Tree felling in Delhi ridge area
In violation of the Supreme Court order, illegal felling of trees was carried out in the Ridge area of Delhi, after which this matter was raised before the court. In this regard, the LG of Delhi has said that he was not aware that it is necessary to obtain permission from the court to fell trees in the hill area.
