Mumbai: Bharatiya Janata Party leader Geeta Jain expressed displeasure over not getting the ticket from Mira Bhayandar constituency and announced that she will contest elections again as an independent candidate. He has expressed his regret for not having obtained the ticket. The BJP has declared Narendra Mehta as its candidate from this seat for the upcoming assembly elections.
Geeta Jain said, ‘Everyone knows that till last night my name was under discussion and all senior leaders from Delhi to Mumbai had promised to make me a candidate for this post. This decision is very unfortunate. The reason for this decision should be asked of all senior leaders of the party.
Geeta Jain also asked the party leaders why the party ticket was being given to a person against whom many criminal cases had been registered. Jain said, “I want to ask all party leaders: why are you trying to play with the party’s image by giving tickets to people against whom there are so many FIRs and corruption allegations? Geeta Jain further said, ‘Maharashtra MP Minister Principal Devendra Fadnavis called me and told me that there are some compulsions due to which he cannot give me the ticket.
The last date to file nominations for the Maharashtra Assembly elections was October 29. Due to the cancellation of candidatures, many great leaders adopted the path of rebellion and filed nominations as independent candidates. After BJP’s Gopal Shetty, Geeta Jain also took the path of rebellion and decided to contest elections as an independent candidate.
