People were shocked by the state in which the body of a missing person was found in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh, a month ago. The man’s decapitated body was recovered from a well on Tuesday. Satyendra Kumar Singh, in-charge of Kotwali Dehat police station, said that with the help of police and divers, the headless body was first removed. They later removed his severed head.
Police said the victim Vinod Mishra (40) is a resident of Agresar village in Kotwali Dehat police station area and went missing after going out to defecate on September 29 around 8 pm.
He said that based on his family’s complaint, the police had registered a missing person case. According to police, his body was recovered on Tuesday from a well in the neighboring village of Siwan. Some farmers who approached the well in the morning saw the body. He first noticed a foul smell coming from the well and when he looked inside, he found a dead body and immediately informed the police.
When the police team took out the body, they found the severed head. After this, the team drew water from the well and began searching for the head. After six hours of effort with the help of divers, the severed head was finally recovered. SHO Singh said that after identification of the body, necessary legal action was initiated.
Meanwhile, the father of the deceased, who was an electrician, has reported that his son was murdered and his body thrown into the well.
