Rahul Gandhi, Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray
Even after finalizing the nomination date for the Maharashtra Assembly elections, confusion persists in many Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) and Mahayuti seats. Both alliances have not even been able to create a consensus among their leaders. It is said that in the seats where friendly fights are going to take place, this is part of a strategy so that their alliance benefits and the votes are shared.
At the same time, the exact number of candidates from the Mahayuti and Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance is also not known. In many places, two candidates each have presented themselves. In Maha Vikas Aghadi, Congress has fielded candidates for up to 102 seats. 89 candidates from Shiv Sena’s Uddhav faction, while 87 candidates from NCP’s Sharad Pawar faction have filed nominations. 13 seats have been granted to allies, that is, in total the MVA has granted tickets to 291 candidates. In fact, the parties of this alliance have faced each other in 3 seats, so the figure of 288 reached 291.
Friendly fight in 5 seats at Mahavikas Aghadi
There is also news that there is a friendly fight for 5 seats in Mahavikas Aghadi where alliance candidates are fighting against each other. Shiv Sena-UBT has given a ticket to Tanaji Satpute from Miraj (Sangli) seat. Congress’s Mohan Vankhande has opposed him. From Sangola (Solapur) seat, Shiv Sena UBT fielded Deepak Aba Salunkhe, while Shetkari Kamgar Paksha gave the ticket to Baba Saheb Deshmukh.
From the Pandharpur seat, the Congress fielded Bhagirath Bhalke, while the NCP Sharad faction fielded Anil Sawant. From the Paranda seat, Shiv Sena UBT gave ticket to Ranjit Patil, while the NCP Sharad faction fielded Rahul Mote against him. Apart from this, Shiv Sena UBT Pawan Jaiswal ticket was given from Digras (Yavatmal) seat. Here the Congress got the nomination of Manik Rao Thackeray.
The BJP is contesting the elections for 152 seats
At the same time, after the nomination date was over, it also came to light that the BJP and Congress canceled the tickets of top MLAs. BJP has not given tickets to 8 and 5 Congress MLAs. NCP’s Ajit Pawar faction and Sharad faction have not given tickets to two sitting MLAs each. In Mahayuti, the BJP is contesting a maximum of 152 seats. The BJP has given up 4 seats of its own to its smaller allies. The Shiv Sena Eknath Shinde faction has fielded candidates for 85 seats, while 52 candidates from the NCP Ajit Pawar faction are contesting. If we add this figure we reach 289 seats. The total seats in the assembly are 288 and there are 289 candidates in the election fray.
