The birth rate in China is continually declining. In such a situation, China has announced many policies, including policies such as the subsidy system for the birth of a child and tax reduction for family members for having more children. Its goal is to encourage people to have more and more children in order to increase the birth rate.
China’s State Council on Monday issued guidelines in this regard so that the child birth rate can be increased. In these, a 13-point outline has been prepared, such as increasing delivery support services, expanding the childcare system and providing help in education, housing and employment. In addition, the government’s priority is to create a favorable social environment for the birth of children. The guidelines say that the childbirth subsidy system can be improved based on new policies.
The State Council has emphasized promoting a new culture of marriage and motherhood. He said that the importance of marriage at the appropriate age and joint care of children by parents must be explained. These include better maternity insurance, maternity leave, subsidies and medical facilities for children. The council has recommended local governments to allocate budget for child care centers and waive taxes and fees for such services.
Let us tell you that China’s population is 1.4 billion. Last year the birth rate hit an all-time low. During this period, India left China behind and became the most populous country in the world. China is concerned about its declining population and wants to increase the birth rate.
Compared to India’s young population, China’s population is aging. There are many reasons for this, including increased life expectancy and declining birth rates. Last year, the number of people aged 60 and above in China reached about 30 crore. That means their share was approximately 21.1 percent of the total population. A year earlier, this figure was around Rs 28 crore.
