Diwali festival is near. But this time the atmosphere is a little different. Pollution has already increased in Delhi-NCR climate and firecrackers are also banned. But the figures revealed in a recent survey show an interesting picture.

In the survey conducted by LocalCircles in Delhi-NCR, people’s views on bursting of firecrackers on Diwali this year were mentioned and the impact it will have on the environment and pollution was also mentioned. According to the shocking figures that emerged in this survey, 55 per cent people said that they would not burst crackers this Diwali because it causes pollution.

Firecracker explosion survey

While 19 percent of people expressed their desire to burst firecrackers, 9 percent said they would burst firecrackers and also know where to get them from. While 8 percent of people did not give a clear answer in this regard.

In total, around 18 per cent families intend to burst crackers on Diwali this time. However, as per the government order, there is a complete ban on manufacturing, storage, sale and use of firecrackers in Delhi-NCR till January 1, 2025.

The objective of this decision of the government is to control the level of pollution because the level of ICA becomes very bad in winter. However, the use of firecrackers during Karva Chauth indicates that many people are bursting firecrackers despite government orders.

AQI exceeds 350 in many areas of Delhi

This also indicates that some people are indifferent to restrictions and do not pay attention to damage to the environment. Even before Diwali, the AQI in many areas of Delhi-NCR had crossed 350, which falls into the ‘severe’ category. In such a situation, the use of firecrackers on Diwali can further increase the pollution level.

This can have a negative impact on the health of children, the elderly and people suffering from respiratory diseases. According to the survey, people also believe that if the ban is not implemented correctly, the situation may worsen.

But despite this, people want to burst cookies because many consider it part of the tradition, while others do it for the children. Meanwhile, the situation is expected to improve through awareness campaigns and promotion of alternative options such as eco-friendly firecrackers, so that people can follow the tradition and not harm the environment.
