Purnia MP Pappu Yadav and Lawrence Bishnoi
Purnia MP Pappu Yadav, who commented on gangster Lawrence Bishnoi after the murder of prominent Mumbai leader Baba Siddiqui, is in trouble. After receiving threats from the gang, Pappu Yadav is now seeking protection from Home Minister Amit Shah and Nitish Kumar. Pappu Yadav has even said that Nitish doesn’t even give time to meet him.
However, this is not the first time Pappu Yadav has come into political tension due to his own statements. Even in 2014 and 2024, Pappu is caught in his own web.
How did Pappu get caught up in talking about Lawrence?
Attacking the central government over Baba Siddiqui’s murder, Pappu Yadav said why two taka criminals are given preference. Pappu even said give him to me, I will teach him a lesson. Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi is currently lodged in Gujarat’s Sabarmati Jail.
After giving a statement about Lawrence, Pappu went to Mumbai and met Baba’s son Jishan. Just a day after meeting Zeeshan, Pappu received a death threat from Dubai. Pappu has written a letter to the Z Plus Security Center.
Claims about Lalu’s legacy spread from door to door
In May 2013, after being acquitted in the Ajit Sarkar murder case, Pappu Yadav was released from Beur jail in Patna. Pappu had no power or strength at that time. In 2009, the Patna High Court banned Pappu from contesting elections. When Pappu came out of jail, Lalu took him with him.
In the 2014 elections, Lalu fielded Pappu on the RJD symbol. Pappu became Lalu’s candidate from Madhepura. Sharad Yadav was already the MP in the seat, to whom Nitish had again given the JDU symbol.
The BJP also fielded candidates from here. Pappu Yadav won the elections in the Madhepura triangular fight. In 2014, RJD won 4 seats. One seat among them was from Madhepura. After the victory, everything was going well for Pappu Yadav, but in 2015 Pappu claimed Lalu’s legacy.
In fact, Lalu Prasad Yadav stayed away from electoral politics in 2013 due to a Supreme Court decision, after which Pappu felt he could reclaim his legacy. It is said that after becoming an MP, Pappu wanted to enter the race for the Chief Minister’s post.
During a meeting in Patna in 2015, Pappu said that I am Lalu’s successor. Hearing this, Lalu reprimanded him and threw him out of the meeting. After being expelled from the RJD, Pappu formed his own party. However, the party could not create magic in the Bihar riots.
Pappu Yadav’s deposit from Madhepura seat was lost in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Pappu’s party could not perform even in the 2015 and 2020 Bihar Assembly elections. In both the elections the party was reduced to zero seats.
He merged the match but couldn’t get the symbol.
In 2024, Pappu Yadav merged his party with the Congress. Before merging with Congress, Pappu Yadav had come to meet Lalu Yadav. Lalu had offered him to contest from Madhepura seat, but Pappu was adamant on contesting from Purnia seat. While talks were going on between Lalu and Pappu, the latter merged his party with the Congress.
Angered by this, Lalu vetoed Purnia’s seat. Pappu Yadav could not get the ticket due to Lalu’s veto. In the end, Pappu had to contest the Purnia elections as an independent.
Pappu has become an MP, but is still in politics. There is also suspense about what his future will be. Along with Pappu, his son Sarthak Ranjan’s politics are also stuck in limbo.
