There will be no friendly fight in Maharashtra MVA
The Congress is on the defensive due to the Uddhav group’s displeasure over the nomination filing in Maharashtra’s Dangal. The Congress has said that though party candidates have filed nominations for some seats, the elections will be contested only by those to whom the party gives the green signal.
Speaking to reporters in Mumbai, Congress chief Ramesh Chennithala and Congress president Nana Patole said candidates in some seats will withdraw their nominations.
Speaking to reporters, Chennithala said there will not be any friendly fight in Mahavikas Aghadi. We are going to fight the elections united. Only those whom we have shaped AB will be able to fight. Those positions in which the form has not been submitted will have to withdraw their name.
The Uddhav group has expressed its discontent.
The Uddhav faction of the Shiv Sena has expressed its displeasure. Party spokesperson Sanjay Raut said the Congress has also nominated candidates for the seats we are fighting for. Raut said the Sangli model of the Lok Sabha is being repeated in the assembly elections. In fact, during the Lok Sabha elections, Shiv Sena (UBT) won the Sangli seat.
Despite this, Congress rebel Vishal Patil entered the fray from here. Thanks to Patil, the Shiv Sena (UBT) candidate fell to the third position. After the elections, Vishal Patil joined the Congress.
The Uddhav faction says a meeting will be held soon and it will be asked to remove candidates from those seats where parties have fielded candidates breaking the alliance principle.
Both presented candidates for these seats.
Uddhav and Shiv Sena (UBT) have fielded candidates together for around a dozen seats. Among the seats where candidates have contested, Bandra-East, Nashik Central and Ramtek seats stand out.
In Vidarbha’s Ramtek seat, Chandrapal Choksey has contested the Congress symbol and Vishal Barbate has contested the Shiv Sena (UBT) symbol. Similarly, both the army and the Uddhav Congress have fielded candidates for the Nashik Central seat. Shiv Sena (UBT) handed over the symbol to Basantrao Geete here. Ghulam Ghaus has contested for Congress.
Both Congress and Shiv Sena (UBT) have also fielded candidates for the Bandra East seat. The Congress has given the symbol to Arjun Singh from here, while Varun Sardesai is in the fray from Shiv Sena (UBT).
The Congress and Shivsena have also fielded candidates for those three seats where their ally the SP is contesting. These include the headquarters of Bhiwandi West, Dhule town.
