As the date of the Maharashtra Assembly elections approaches, the series of accusations and counter-allegations between political parties also increases. In this series, BJP leader Kirit Somaiya fiercely attacked the NCP after Ajit Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party leader Nawab Malik was given a ticket from Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar. He said Nawab Malik is a terrorist and has tried to destroy the country. He further said that he is related to Dawood Ibrahim and is his agent. Somaiya said Ajit Pawar’s NCP has betrayed the country by giving it the ticket.

Notably, Nawab Malik filed his nomination from Mankhurd-Shivaji Nagar on Tuesday, due to which a situation of confusion has arisen against the BJP and Shiv Sena (Shinde faction). The reason for this is that Mahayuti’s Shiv Sena has already declared Suresh Krishna Patil as its candidate for this seat.

Politics have heated up since the nomination of Nawab Malik of the NCP, so leaders of opposition parties have started making statements. Mumbai BJP president Ashish Shelar said his party will not campaign for Nawab Malik. At the same time, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Priyanka Chaturvedi called Malik “Dawood’s associate” and mocked that a “friend of Dawood” is contesting the elections as part of the BJP-led alliance. .

Arrested in money laundering case

Malik, who is always in the news, is back in the spotlight. In February 2022, ED arrested him in a money laundering case. However, he was later released on bail. Now, in dramatic fashion, Malik has entered the electoral race as a PCN candidate. Before this, Malik had been MLA from Anushakti Nagar assembly seat in Mumbai. He has been Minister of Minority Development, Auqaf, Skill Development, Employment and Entrepreneurship in the Uddhav Thackeray government. Nawab Malik has also served as guardian minister of Gondia and Parbhani districts.
