Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath
In view of the confusion over the date of Diwali, the Uttar Pradesh government has extended the Diwali holiday by two days. In this, the holiday of November 31 is already registered as an official holiday, but the holiday of November 1 has been adjusted from the second holiday on Saturday of November 9. In this regard, Additional Chief Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh government Jitendra Kumar issued an order under the Negotiable Instruments Act.
In his order, the Additional Secretary said that Diwali festival is being celebrated with great enthusiasm in the state, but due to some confusion, this time Diwali was shortened by two days – October 31 and November 1. In such a situation, the holiday on the second Saturday of November 9 will be adapted to the holiday on November 1. The Joint Secretary has clearly said in his order that there will be no holiday on November 9, i.e. the second Saturday.
Confusion over Diwali date
On that day, all government offices will function as normal days. Let us tell you that as per Sanatan tradition, this five-day Diwali festival starts from Dhan Teras and continues till Bhai Dooj. However, this time some almanac sellers and scholars have entangled people in the game of planets and constellations. In this regard, confusion has arisen mainly regarding the worship of Diwali. Due to this, in some places the festival of Diwali is celebrated on October 31, while in many places preparations are being made to celebrate the festival on November 1 as well.
Adjustment of the holiday for the second Saturday, November 9
Since the Diwali festival usually lasts only one day, those celebrating Diwali on November 1 were faced with the problem of how they would make the necessary preparations. Keeping this problem in mind, the Uttar Pradesh government has tried to offer a solution. In this sense, the holiday on the second Saturday of November 9 has been adapted to the holiday on November 1.
