The process of disengagement of troops from the two flashpoints between China and India in the Demchok and Depsang plains in eastern Ladakh has been completed and army patrols at these points will begin soon. In a statement issued by the army, it is stated that the exchange of sweets between the two sides of the army will take place on Thursday on the occasion of Diwali.

Army sources say that after the withdrawal of the army, work is now underway on verification. The ground commanders of the two armies have yet to decide on patrolling modalities. Once the negotiation process is completed, talks will begin at the level of local commanders.

Conversations at Corps Commander level concluded

According to a senior army officer, this process is now in the final stages. The outline of the agreement was first signed by both sides at the diplomatic level and then talks began at the military level between the military officials of China and India. He said talks were held last week at the level of corps commanders. During this conversation the details of the agreement were finalized.

Following the agreement between the two parties, both parties have started the withdrawal process. Indian soldiers have started bringing back their equipment. This process began after the agreement on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. There were agreements between the two countries on patrolling and troop withdrawal.

For the last four years there was a confrontation between the two countries. Following this agreement, great success has been achieved in ending the stalemate.
