In 2023, Iran banned the import of iPhone 14 and newer models. Despite this, the import of iPhone 13 and earlier versions continued to be allowed. In fact, foreign tourists are allowed to stay in Iran for only one month and their mobile phones can work on the network for the same period. Due to this rule, if a new iPhone model were to be used permanently in Iran, it would not be possible because they would not be able to connect to the network after a month.

Why was the ban imposed?
