He said in his post: ‘They escaped with jewellery, other valuables and many personal belongings. Many of those items have really sentimental value to me and my family. They are irreplaceable.

Ben Stokes’ family was home.

Ben Stokes said: ‘This is an appeal for help to find those who have carried out this act. By far the worst thing about this crime is that it was committed while my wife and two young children were at home.

The captain of the England cricket team said: “Fortunately, no members of my family were physically harmed.” However, it is obvious that this experience has affected his emotional and mental state.
