Sanjana Jadhav, daughter of former Union minister and BJP leader Raosaheb Danve, joined CM Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena on Sunday ahead of the assembly elections due on November 20. He is likely to hail from the Kannada assembly constituency of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district.
With just two days left to file nominations, former MPs Rajendra Gavit and Vilas Tare also joined the Shiv Sena. In June 2022, when Shinde rebelled against Uddhav Thackeray’s leadership, Gavit supported him.
Gavit was selected from Palghar assembly constituency by the Shiv Sena, which announced the list of 20 candidates on Sunday. Shinde and former MLC Ravindra Phatak welcomed these leaders into the army. Elections to the 288-member Maharashtra Assembly will be held on November 20 and counting of votes will take place on November 23.
