New Delhi: Cases of false bomb threats continually come to light in the country. Every day there is a bomb threat during a plane trip, so passengers have to face problems. The figures revealed by the government in Parliament are extremely shocking. The government has said that more than 1,100 false bomb threats have been received in the past two years.
What’s the whole deal?
While briefing the Lok Sabha on November 28, the Civil Aviation Minister of the Government of India said that a total of 1,148 hoax bomb threats had been received from August 2022 to November 14, 2024. These threats were have given through calls and messages.
In the year 2024 alone, 999 bomb threats have been received in 11 months. Due to these threats, there are difficulties in flying and passengers also face difficulties in reaching their destination because once the threat comes, a full investigation is done, due to which the flight is delayed.
What measures were taken?
Did the government also say what actions were taken regarding these false bomb threats? There have been 256 FIRs and 12 arrests in such cases since January 2024. 163 FIRs were registered between October 14 and November 14, 2024, which is something of an increase.
The government is considering changes to the law.
According to the information received, the government considers that the laws related to this matter should be modified. In such a situation, it is believed that the Government may make changes in the Government Aircraft (Safety) Rules, 2023. It is said that those who make fake bomb threats may be included in the no-fly list.
Apart from this, the government constantly reviews and strengthens security-related measures.
