Kazan (Russia): During the ongoing BRICS summit in Russia, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a big statement about the world surrounded by wars and conflicts and the challenge of terrorism and its financing. The Indian Prime Minister said that no country will have double standards on terrorism and its financing, but all BRICS countries will have to unite against it. During this, Prime Minister Modi also said that India welcomes the new members of BRICS, but their decision must be taken with the consent of the founding members.

During this, Prime Minister Modi called for resolving the dispute between Russia and Ukraine through peaceful talks and said that India does not support war but dialogue and diplomacy. He expressed concern about challenges such as war, economic uncertainty, climate change and terrorism. Prime Minister Modi said BRICS can play a positive role in taking the world on the right path. Just as we were able to overcome challenges like COVID together, we can surely create new opportunities to ensure a safe, strong and prosperous future for future generations.”

We must be united against fundamentalism and terrorism.

Let us tell you that the 16th BRICS summit is being organized in the Russian city of Kazan from October 22 to 24. In this sense, Russian President Vladimir Putin plays the role of president. The main leaders of the BRICS countries participate, including their Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping. During this, Prime Minister Modi also advocated for concrete global efforts to tackle terrorism and said there should be no “double standards” in fighting this menace. “To combat terrorism and its financing, we need the united and firm support of everyone,” he said. There is no room for double standards in this serious matter. Modi also said countries in the group must take active measures to prevent radicalization among youth. He said: “We have to work together on the outstanding issue of a comprehensive agreement at the United Nations on international terrorism.”

We will have to work together on cybersecurity and AI

Prime Minister Modi said that we are facing challenges like cybercrime and counterfeiting due to artificial intelligence. Therefore, “we need to work together to achieve global regulation for cybersecurity and safe AI.” Modi said India is ready to welcome new countries to the BRICS as partner countries. He said: “All decisions in this regard must be made unanimously and the opinions of the founding members of BRICS must be respected.” Modi said: “The guiding principles, standards, norms and criteria adopted during the Johannesburg summit must be respected.” All members and partner countries must follow the procedures.

The question of reform is raised in the United Nations Security Council

Prime Minister Modi also once again advocated reforms in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and other global bodies during the BRICS summit. “We must advance in a timely manner on reforms in global institutions such as the UN Security Council, multilateral development banks and the WTO,” he said. “As we intensify our efforts in the BRICS, we must ensure that to do this.” We must be careful that the image of this organization does not appear that it is trying to change global institutions, but that it is understood that this organization wants to reform them.” (language)
