A huge explosion has occurred inside the railway station in Quetta, Pakistan, killing 16 people and reportedly injuring more than 30. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mohammad Baloch told the media that 16 people were killed and more than 30 injured in the incident.
He further said that this incident looks like a “suicide explosion,” but it is too early to say anything. Investigations are underway to determine the nature of the explosion. Earlier, Edhi Rescue Service chief Zeeshan said the explosion “occurred on a platform inside the railway station”.
Balochistan government spokesman Shahid Rind said in a statement that police and security forces reached the scene. Rind said the nature of the explosion was being investigated. The bomb disposal team is collecting evidence at the scene and a report on the incident has been requested.
The government official said an “emergency” has been imposed on hospitals there. He said “medical assistance is being provided to the injured.” In the images of the incident, remains are seen on the train station platform. At the time of the explosion, a train was ready to leave the platform for Peshawar.
