The main fight for the Silli assembly seat is between All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU) and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM). In Jharkhand, the AJSU party is contesting the elections in alliance with the NDA alliance. Also, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) is contesting the elections in alliance with India Alliance.

AJSU’s Sudesh Kumar Mahato is contesting from Silli assembly seat. He is also the president of the party. He is currently the sitting MLA from Silli. Sudesh Mahato has also been former Deputy Chief Minister of Jharkhand. Sudesh Mahato won the first assembly elections in 2000, when he was 25 years old.

Sudesh Mahato took charge as Deputy Chief Minister of Jharkhand on December 29, 2009. The then CM of the state was Arjun Munda. In this way, Sudesh Mahato is a big name in Jharkhand politics. This is the reason why Sudesh Mahato won this seat in the last election in 2019.

This time Amit Mahato is in the JMM election battle. Amit Mahato has been a former MLA from Silli assembly seat. Amit Mahato defeated Sudesh Mahato in the 2014 assembly elections. At the same time, once again both candidates are facing each other.

In the 2019 assembly elections, Sudesh Mahato defeated Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) candidate Seema Devi. AJSU candidate Sudesh Mahato had received 83,700 votes. JMM candidate Seema Devi got 63,505 votes. In the 2019 assembly elections, Sudesh Mahato won by 20,195 votes.
Amit Mahato defeated Sudesh Mahato in 2014
By-elections were held for this seat in the year 2018. Then, JMM candidate Seema Devi defeated Sudesh Mahato by 13,510 votes. AJSU chief Sudesh Mahato was defeated in the 2014 assembly elections. JMM candidate Amit Mahato won the 2014 assembly elections. Amit Mahato got 79,747 votes and AJSU candidate Sudesh Mahato he obtained 50,007 votes. In the 2014 assembly elections, Sudesh Mahato lost by 29,740 votes.
