Mild tremors have been felt in Mehsana in Gujarat and Mount Abu in Rajasthan. According to the information, the earthquake was felt in both places at 10:15 p.m. According to information received from the National Center for Seismology, the intensity of the earthquake was measured at 4.2 on the Richter scale.
As soon as the tremors of the earthquake were felt, panic broke out among the people. However, due to the low intensity of the earthquake, there are no reports of loss of life or property. We told you that on November 10, tremors were also felt on Mount Abu. A panic situation was experienced in the area due to the earthquake that occurred at 7:51 a.m.
Why do earthquakes occur?
If we look at the reason for earthquakes, the Earth is mainly made up of four layers, which are called the inner core, outer core, mantle and crust. The crust and upper mantle are called the lithosphere. These are layers 50 kilometers thick, which are called tectonic plates. These tectonic plates continue to move, rotate and slide from their place. These plates usually move out of place by about 4-5 mm each year. They can move from their place both horizontally and vertically. In this sequence, sometimes one plate approaches the other and sometimes moves away. During this time these plates sometimes collide with each other. Only in such circumstances does an earthquake occur and the earth shakes. These plates lie between 30 and 50 km below the surface.
Center and intensity of the earthquake.
The epicenter of an earthquake is the place just below which geological energy is released due to the movement of plates. The vibrations of the earthquake are felt more in this place. As the frequency of the vibration increases, its effect decreases. The measure of its intensity is the Richter scale. If an earthquake of magnitude 7 or greater on the Richter scale occurs, the tremors are felt within a 40 km radius. But it also depends on whether the seismic frequency is ascending or descending. If the vibration frequency is ascending then the area of effect is smaller. The deeper an earthquake occurs, the less intensity is felt at the surface.
